About Molly Smiles Foundation
Molly was born in 2018 and was the sweetest, happiest baby. She would light up the room with her smiles and cheerful disposition. In 2019 she was diagnosed with a rare chromosomal abnormality called Angelman syndrome. Common symptoms of Angelman syndrome involve significant developmental delays, seizures, sleep disturbances, and lack of speech. A prominent characteristic of people with Angelman syndrome is happiness and plenty of smiles.
Molly's family then worked with multiple agencies to get Molly all the support and services possible, over time Molly was making amazing progress when she unexpectedly passed away in her sleep in November of 2022.
Molly and her family were fortunate to be connected with George Mark Children House, a vital resource during Molly's life as well as providing support during Molly's family's bereavement.
Molly Smiles Foundation was formed to support other families to navigate caring for a special needs child.
2024 GIVING CAMPAIGN:
GMCH YES Playground:
Typical playgrounds are designed for typically developing kids. Adaptive playground equipment is designed for kids with physical disabilities. But almost nowhere can kids with disabilities and their typically-developing siblings play together. George Mark Children’s House seeks to remedy that with the creation of a state-of-the-art inclusive and adaptive playground.
The new playground will offer George Mark patients and families an array of interactive experiences, incorporating musical instruments, tactile elements, and even a swing that can accommodate a child’s wheelchair.
Molly Smiles Grant Program:
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the 2025 Molly Smiles Grant Program, aiming to provide grants to 10 children with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities. The application period will open on February 1, 2025, and close on March 31, 2025. Last year, we recieved over 30 applications and thanks to the incredible support from our Giving Tuesday campaign and generous donors like you, were able to award additional grants, bringing even more smiles and support to deserving children.
